Configuring AI Chatbots
Add an AI-powered chatbot to your Telegram group that can answer questions, provide information, and engage with your community members.
Setting Up an AI Chatbot
- Navigate to Automations > AI Chatbots in your group.
- Click "Create AI Chatbot".
- Configure the chatbot:
- Name -- how the bot identifies itself
- System prompt -- define the bot's personality and knowledge base
- Response style -- formal, casual, or custom
- Set activation rules:
- Respond when mentioned by name
- Respond to direct replies
- Respond to all messages (use with caution)
- Save and activate.
System Prompt Tips
The system prompt is the most important configuration. Include:
- Who the bot is -- "You are the community assistant for [Group Name]"
- What it knows -- provide key information about your community, product, or topic
- What it should not do -- set boundaries (e.g., "Do not discuss competitor products")
- Tone guidelines -- "Be friendly and concise. Use emojis sparingly."
Rate Limiting
To control costs and prevent spam:
- Set a maximum number of responses per hour
- Configure a cooldown per user to limit individual usage
- Set quiet hours when the bot should not respond
Best Practices
- Start conservative -- only respond when mentioned, then expand if needed
- Monitor responses regularly to ensure quality
- Update the system prompt as your community's needs evolve
- Provide a fallback -- tell the bot to suggest contacting an admin for questions it cannot answer
